Licensing is done through the City Finance Department.
The City of Summerset uses an online application, MyGov, to process business & contractor licenses, permits, and resident requests.

- Business License Application – Business licenses are required for businesses based within, or otherwise have their business address as listed within, the City of Summerset. You will need to provide a copy of your sales & use, or your excise tax license document for this application.
- Contractor License Application – All contractors are required to be licensed by the City, this is to confirm that professionals meet required qualifications and insurance standards. You will need to provide a copy of your current insurance COI, (which shows coverage of general liability & workman’s comp insurance), and submit a copy of your excise tax document.
- Peddler License – This application is for issuance of a license to conduct door-to-door sales for a specific business. You will have to submit a copy of your current drivers license, current vehicle insurance, and a copy of the company’s Excise Tax document. This application is only available online.
- Temporary Vendor License – This license is to allow a person, firm, corporation, partnership, or association or agent to engage in retail sales outside the confines of a permanent structure for a defined length of time. As the vendor will be located on another’s commercially zoned private property, including any convention center parking lot, the owner of the property is required to sign the application.
- Solid Waste Haulers License – All solid waste haulers or collectors who use the City’s streets or alleys for the collection or removal of any garbage for hire, must first obtain a waste haulers license through the City licensing department. You will need to submit a copy of your current drivers license, current vehicle insurance, and a copy of the company’s Excise Tax document.
