Statement of Purpose: We, the members of the Summerset Police Department, are committed to excellence in law enforcement, and are dedicated to the citizens of our great city. We are committed to serving the community while protecting the rights of each and every citizen. Our mission statement and core values serve as guides for the work we do every day to protect those who live, work, and visit the City of Summerset.
Vision Statement: The City of Summerset strives to rid the community of crime while maintaining high standards of excellence in policing and delivering quality service to our community. We will achieve this by utilizing advanced training for officers and implementing innovative practices to create a safe environment for our citizens.
Mission Statement: The mission of the Summerset Police Department is to protect, serve, and assist citizens by providing exceptional police services. Cooperating with others in the community, officers will work to prevent and detect crime, protect life and property, and achieve a peaceful society free from the fear of crime and disorder. Members of the Department will strive for continuous improvement and maintain peace through lawfulness, service, integrity, leadership, and fair treatment of all.

In progress crimes, emergencies, and incidents requiring a timely police response should be reported by dialing 911.
To report a non-emergency or to speak with an officer, dial (605) 721-6806. After administrative hours, the call will be routed to the Meade County E911 Center. The call will be dispatched to an officer for a response.
To report a violation of the City Ordinance pertaining to animals, vehicles on a street/ public right of way, or illegal dumping/ littering, call the police department at (605) 721-6806. To report all other City Ordinance violations, call Code Enforcement at (605) 718-2145, or submit the complaint online at https://www.summerset.us/code-enforcement.html.

Sex offender registrations are required to be scheduled in advance by calling (605) 721-6806.
Requests to have the police department’s speed trailer deployed on your street can be made by calling (605) 721-6806.
