The Rushmore Region is an ideal location for start-ups and entrepreneurs, as it has always been home to pioneers and a maverick way of thinking. The following resources ensure that you have the right tools and team supporting you in your new endeavors.

  • West River Business Service Center helps new entrepreneurs realize their dream of business ownership and assists existing businesses in their efforts to remain competitive.
  • SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" is a non profit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small business, start, grow and succeed nationwide.
  • Black Hills Region Angel Fund, LLC. will provide equity funds for local startup companies that exhibit potential for growth and high economic impact. The fund is completely funded with local money from accredited private investors in the Black Hills, and is used for companies wanting to start in Rapid City and the surrounding Rushmore Region.
  • Black Hills Business Development Center is committed to offering quality, affordable space to attract start-ups and businesses with growth potential. Within the Center a full range of business services is provided free or at a low cost through sharing. The facility offers office, lab and light manufacturing space for lease.
  • South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development is a site for economic development officials and community leaders across the state. On this site, you will find useful information to help retain existing companies, recruit new businesses and help communities grow. The site offers a full range of programs that support new and expanding business including: low-interest loans, workforce development grants, state-wide networking opportunities, foreign trade missions and many more business services.
  • SD CEO (South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity) provides comprehensive training, education and business assistance, support and counseling for aspiring and established entrepreneurs to foster economic development in South Dakota.
